In our earliest days, a traveler arrived at the pastoral acres of Boys Republic over winding dirt roads that cut through hills or vast agricultural land. It was rural and we were easy to find. Today, Boys Republic exists as a green bubble amidst a growing suburban tangle of asphalt highways, shopping malls and residential tracts. The journey here is now more complicated.

In 2006, Boys Republic sold 3.5 acres on the perimeter of its acreage to the City of Chino Hills to accommodate the building of a new shopping center. The development re-routed Boys Republic’s entrance onto the newly-created “Boys Republic Drive”. But, what would be the street number?

The year of our founding – 1907 – was a natural, but didn’t fit within the City’s street-numbering grid. A variance was needed. Boys Republic Board of Directors members Gary Larson and Doug LaBelle, both former Chino Hills city officials, were instrumental in obtaining the variance. Today, a traveler will find us at 1907 Boys Republic Drive. Same location, new address!
